Two years agone Capcom released Megaman Legacy Collection, a compilation of the start 6 Megaman games. I reviewed it but recently and considered it to live an splendid compilation of retro games featuring the iconic Blue Bomber. It was a good done compilation that had a lot of modern flair, too would sure delight whatever Megaman fan. Also recently, Capcom has released a minute compilation of classic Megaman games, the aptly titled Megaman Legacy Collection 2. This fourth dimension around, Capcom has included the side yesteryear side 4 numbered Megaman installments too has to a greater extent than or less retained the overall presentation too experience of the compilation that came earlier it.
The games included inwards this minute compilation is a to a greater extent than various bunch compared to the start 1 (which featured games that were all free on the NES/Famicom). Megaman seven was released originally on Nintendo's minute console, the Super NES, too it has pretty much outdone all the Megaman games that came earlier it inwards almost all aspects (the disclose of secrets inwards this game is staggering). It had actually swell graphics, sounds too music for its fourth dimension too was also considered an instant 16-bit classic. For me, this is the best game inwards this compilation, too I would highly recommend people to purchase MMLC2 but to play this game. Which brings me to my side yesteryear side betoken regarding the latter 3 games of the compilation...
While Megaman 8, ix too 10 are all awesome games, yous may select already played most (if non all) of them to a greater extent than recently. They are all nonetheless available to purchase via the PlayStation Network on PS3 (and are regularly on sale) too thus the chances that yous select already picked them upward are high. People who already ain too played these 3 games may respect piffling value inwards purchasing MMLC2 (unless they actually desire to play Megaman 7, similar me). Capcom could select added the Super Famicom version of Megaman too Bass (after a quick localization though, because this game was never officially translated to English linguistic communication on that platform) to add together to a greater extent than value to the compilation. Considering Bass too his cool-looking pup Treble were both introduced inwards Megaman seven the add-on of that game should select been a no-brainer, but that is but me beingness picky too wishful. There's also a yoke of Megaman arcade fighting games that they could select added to circular out the compilation...
Just similar the start compilation, MMLC2 features a Museum sum of concept fine art from all the included games, various Challenge Modes for each game too a Music Player that lets yous play all the games' music. Oddly enough, yous cannot switch betwixt the US/Japanese (Megaman/Rockman) versions of the games similar the start compilation. The alternative to play Megaman 8 amongst japanese good for its cutscenes would select been a cool addition, considering the english dub for that game is too thus laughably bad. Maybe Capcom also wanted to cutting downwards on the already huge 5GB download size of the game, which I honestly remember feels form of bloated for these old games
Even though I talked to a greater extent than oftentimes than non close the things people (particularly Megaman fans) may non similar close MMLC2, I would nonetheless highly recommend this game both to hardcore Megaman fans too to those who were alone introduced to Megaman via the start compilation. Of the 4 included games, I select to nation that 8 is the weakest of the bunch (despite beingness the prettiest too best-sounding amid all the games) but it is nonetheless a blast to play. Capcom has added a cool Extra Armor characteristic to all the games which effectively doubles Megaman's hitting points--a welcome add-on considering all these games are tough every bit nails. Also, since Megaman ix too 10 are pretty recent releases (despite looking just similar the start 6 NES games) they select already hopped aboard the downloadable content train, allowing those who purchase the DLC's to play through both games every bit a dissimilar character. Thankfully, Capcom has included all of their DLC packs inwards the compilation. You tin give the axe fifty-fifty unlock the said DLC without beating the games start (a requirement inwards the master releases) via an old schoolhouse cheat code. Very cool!
Overall, MMLC2 is a enterprise compilation of Megaman games that is, sadly, overshadowed yesteryear the master 1 it followed. It is nonetheless a swell compilation inwards itself, but the start 1 volition give yous to a greater extent than bang for your buck. Hopefully, Capcom volition live able to brand to a greater extent than or less novel Megaman installments later these 2 compilations. I personally could also become for a Megaman X Legacy Collection sometime inwards the hereafter every bit good (which they hopefully volition non divide into 2 games).
Make it order off Capcom! Viva la Blue Bomber!
YAY!
- Packs almost all the features the start compilation had.
- Megaman ix too 10 has all DLC included.
- Old schoolhouse cheat codes are awesome!
NAY!
- Weaker pick of games compared to the start compilation.
- Megaman/Rockman manner switch is weirdly missing.
- 5GB download size feels form of bloated for a retro game compilation.
REVIEW SCORE: 8/10
